Love in the Every Room

Attending the Penn-Del District Ministers’ Wives Retreat this past weekend was a blast. Talking, laughing, fellowshipping and relaxing were encouraged and enjoyed big time. Marjie Tourville, the First Lady of our District, and her team did an excellent job of planning and executing the theme “Love in Every Room.” It was integrated not only in the decor and speaking but in the schedule and activiites. We felt the love of God through her, the hair stylists, nail and facial technicians ,and yes, even the reflexologist and massage therapists. The chocolate fountain and mocha punch just kicked it up a notch Emeril style!
I think Marjie has just outdone herself in real Purposeful, Powerful Choleric style. She shot for the moon and caught some stars too. Hats off to Marjie! Hats off to Steve, her husband, for encouraging and supporting this wonderful lady in following her passion and purpose.
I don’t know about you but I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Jenny Duncan talk about “Love in the Bedroom.” That hat was a real fashion statement Jenny! She looked at three large things in our bedroom — the closet, the mirror and the bed. The clothes in our closet and overstuffed panty drawer show the seasons of our lives –embrace where you are.
The Mirrow reflects who we are :
- Overworked Super Mom - “oh my aching feet.”
- In Demand Ministers Wife - “Lord give me grace.”
- Decisive Decision Maker - “somebody please think for yourself for a change.”
- Spiritual Giant - “Oh grow up already, will ya?”
- Vacation Ready Momma - “Just leave a message”
We can look in the mirror and get depressed or we can look at what the Word says and embrace who we are. She has her confession on her large mirror - great idea.
Of course embracing where and who we are will help us “love the man in the bedroom.” Jenny reminded us that we need to fight to stay joined as one flesh. We have to fight the busyness, the entertainment like TV, any fantasy life that excludes our man. We need to fight for growth individually and for our marriage. We need to fight to make up because making up is sooooooo much fun!!! Right on Jenny.
Gloria and her worship team lead us into the throne room in quick fashion. Her rich warm vocals, choice of songs, and excellence on the keyboard made it easy to worship. I didn’t even miss the drums, guitar, bass or electric guitar. She’s a one woman band. “I am Yours” was one of my favorites.
On the next blogs we’ll discuss “Love in the Dining Room” and our Spiritual Personalities. For now, share your comments about the weekend for others to see.

What a refreshing weekend! I was able to catch up on some sleep, spend some quality time with our CAG ladies, and most importantly hang out with God and expierience Him in a special way this weekend. I truly enjoy this retreat and Marjie’s down to earth and fun-loving attitude. She does such a wonderful job at meeting us where we are and knowing exactly what we need-relaxation, laughter, and time with our Father. Throughout the weekend it was mentioned several times that we are His daughter- I love to hear that. I know Andrea mentioned the same thing- but it is such a representation of the relationship we have with God and it truly comforts and excites me- which is also why I love to call Him Abba. I think it may have something to do with the fact that as our Father- He takes care of us, restores us, and smiles on us, and fills us with His love. We can fall into His arms even when we are taking care of everyone and everything else.
Jenny Duncan was one little ball of energy! wow! She was a treat to hear from. Wearing so many different hats can be exhausting- and she put things into persepective.
It was a such great weekend. I really enjoyed the talk on “Love in the Dining Room” and am looking forward to reading your recap on that Angela. Thanks for blogging!

I’m glad you enjoyed the weekend. I’m thankful that we are loved so much that our church board makes it possible for us to attend and be refreshed. We are blessed. Being God’s daughter is very special,I agree. Some daughters never felt special to their fathers but God just keeps revealing how very special we are to Him — remarkable, extraordinary, distinct — all because we are Uniquely His.
